  It is estimated that over 95% of the world will try some form of dieting at some point in their lives in order to lose weight and improve their appearance overall. One of the major problems with this, however, is that few people understand how dieting truly works, as well as what constitutes a good and bad diet.


Even some of the most well known, effective dieting techniques - like weight watchers and other diet companies - are constantly abused and misunderstood, with people consistently incorrectly keeping to the diet. Ultimately these people either do not lose weight or lose some weight initially and then gain it all back again.

Diets vary so much, that some diets are literally more harmful to you than starving yourself, while others are simply not diets at all, and still others have huge holes that people exploit in order to cheat their diet only to find that they have gained weight and are in utter shock. There are several dieting tips that someone needs to consider if they expect their diets to work for them.

Why Lowering Calories is not the Best Way to Cure Obesity

  Many people feel that they are naturally overweight and others enjoy being naturally skinny while eating much more food than them. The misconception is that size is just about genes or how much someone is eating (calories). When looked at closely, it is not the calorie consumption (or genes) that is the deciding factor in whether someone is overweight or thin. This is because there are three main types of calories that people eat every day: carbohydrates, protein and fat.

The human body doesn't calculate how many total calories are consumed. More, the body works out the amount of each of the types of calories are eaten. For example, many unwitting people eat fat free foods which are high in sugar. If they eat too many carbohydrates of this type then the body can't completely use all of this type of calorie and will store the extra as fat. Even if people don't eat many total calories each day, they can still get fat if they eat too much of a certain calorie at the wrong time of day. This is exactly why many people
